Traditional Health Services of Majuli

TRADITIONAL WAYS OF CURING (BEZ OJHA) Upto the 5th decade of the 20th Century the type of treatment by "Bez" and "Old Oza" systems prevailed. Due to the good nutrition, pure diet like fresh vegetables, Milk, Fish etc. and fresh air and good climate of the island the health of the people were quite normal and disease could not impinge upon due to good resistance power of the people. The old types of treatment like 'Bez', 'Oza' and prayer to "Mother" (Aai) roots and leaves of different trees were mainly available and people also preferred these due to ignorance.
